Operation Homecooking For the past 35 years Operation Homecooking has been able to provide Air Force basic trainees and technical school students the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving Day with caring families in our community. Interested families can open their homes to recruits and students by contacting the Air Force. The Air Force will require that each recruit be accompanied by a buddy, so if you are interested please make eating arrangement for two additional people at your table. If you sign up, you’ll simply go pick up the two people assigned to your home, take them back to your place for a great meal and then return them to base later in the day. Those that have participated in this program in the past have said they were able to have some great experiences inviting service members into their homes. Please reference a complete list of requirements. This is a great way to show your support for our service men and women who commit their lives to ensure and protect our freedom. If you would like to participate by sponsoring a trainee, please call the Air Force through the following telephone lines, Monday thru Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. (CST): (210) 671-5453/5454/3701. |

| 2011-Sep-22 | National Night Out is Tuesday, October 4th! It is a great chance to improve community solidarity in strengthening our neighborhoods and our guard against crime! It's easy to organize a simple NNO BBQ or even just dessert on your street by getting a location and sticking a flyer in the mailboxes on your street! If you don't have a NNO to attend or want a pre-party community event, come to our monthly Board meeting which will be early this month at 6:00 pm in the Clubhouse. We will have appetizers and drinks. You can bring one to share or just come meet some of your neighbors. October's meeting will be a short meeting, so we can get back to our own block parties! We are compiling a list of block parties in Timberwood that night, so please email timberwoodnews@gmail.com if you are having a NNO party!! | Philip |

Timberwood/Bexarmet District 7 Discussion All government bodies are required to redistrict their boundaries every ten years, following the decennial census. Due to population growth on the Northside, BexarMet's District 6 has been overly large for several years, which has meant that we did not have balanced representation on the BexarMet Board. The proposal will place Timberwood Park in a new District 7. A public hearing on the plan will be held to show you the map of the new district and, as required by law, get your input. Please make an effort to attend next Thursday July 14, 2011 at Timberwood Park Clubhouse from 6-7 PM. Comment cards will be available so that your approval or request for changes can be considered by the BexarMet Board before the plan is sent to the U.S. Department of Justice. Tom Gallier, BexarMet's new General Manager will be attending, so you will have an opportunity to meet him. We will also be available to answer any other questions you may have about the future of BexarMet. |
